Toronto, Ont. — Kostuch Media (KML) and FHG International, Foodservice and Franchise Consultants,  in cooperation with Ryerson University, are pleased to announce the launch of the 2013 Bottom Line. The operations report measures 2012 industry performance by providing operating data from across the country, and in every dining-sector. Among the sectors examined are QSR, Family, Casual and Fine Dining.

More than 600 foodservice operators representing almost 3,000 restaurants participated in this year’s survey, the results of which have been electronically shared with more than 15,000 readers of Foodservice and Hospitality magazine. The report is available as an industry service to anyone who wants to learn more about the restaurant sector.

As competition continues to intensify and costs continue to rise, operators are being more squeezed than ever. “Although sales are rising, the fact remains that this is a very tough business that is over saturated with lots of new competition entering the market,’ said Doug Fisher, president, FHG.  “Without a clear and concise understanding of the operating performance of the industry such as those offered in The Bottom Line, operators do not have any other opportunity to see the benchmark results.”

“With today’s operating environment continuing to become more challenged, this report provides operators hungry for statistical analysis an opportunity to gain insight into of a number of key operating areas. It also allows them to compare their own numbers against those represented in the survey. It’s yet  another tool in our growing portfolio of products that provides operators with essential information to help them operate more efficiently and effectively,” said Rosanna Caira, editor and publisher of Kostuch Media (publishers of Foodservice and Hospitality and Hotelier magazines) and  the report’s sponsor.  “Once again, we were gratified to see a solid number of responses to our survey. As a result, we’ve been able to capture a statistically significant number of units. We hope this will continue to grow, and that the industry will embrace these results through increased participation in future surveys, which will be conducted annually in January and February, with results posted every May of the same year,” said Caira.
